Americans 12 and older can get a COVID-19 vaccine, but younger children are still waiting.

With many schools across the United States now just weeks from reopening for the fall semester, pharmaceutical companies Pfizer and Moderna are still doing clinical trials to see how coronavirus vaccines work in children under 12 — if they’re safe and what the right dose should be.

COVID-19 transmission continues slowly trending upward in Pasadena on Thursday, with 16 new infections documented by public health officials. City officials reported 12 new COVID-19 infections in Pasadena on Friday as new cases county wide reached their highest level since March. No new deaths were reported in Pasadena.

Last year, companies around the U.S. scrambled to figure out how to shut down their offices and set up their employees for remote work as the COVID-19 virus suddenly bore down on the world.

Now, in a mirror image, they are scrambling to figure out how to bring many of those employees back.
Most companies are proceeding cautiously, trying to navigate declining COVID-19 infections against a potential backlash by workers who are not ready to return.

From the Pasadena Star-News: Swimming in cash from an unexpected budget surplus and federal stimulus money, California is planning rent forgiveness on a scale never seen before in the United States.

Cases: For the third day in a row, Pasadena health officials on Thursday detected a single new COVID-19 case in the city.

It had been two weeks since the city reported a fatality, according to Pasadena Public Health Department data.

In total, the city has recorded 11,317 infections and 349 deaths.

Over the prior week, an average of 1.9 Pasadenans contracted the virus daily, according to city data.
